My Akela is special because he is my dad

This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. We spoke to Sinjon Alvin Whittal (10) from 1st Henley Cub Pack in Gauteng about his adventure.

Sinjon Whittal webSSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is fun because we play a lot of fun games, we make fires and learn new things.

SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
During a Cub meeting we cooked on an open fire. That was my best experience.

SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
I think the weirdest thing was eating ants…

SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge was pulling myself up three meters on a rope.

SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place was the Gilwell Scout Campsite for the Cub Fun Day in 2015.

SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learned to be honest, helpful, kind and caring.

SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
My Pack planted trees and for my Leaping Wolf badge, I am collecting water.

SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to make a fire.

SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela is kind, helpful, fun and makes our time at Cubs cool.

SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because he is my dad.

Cubbing Rocks because … we get to be outdoors.
