Scouting enables young boys to be happy and healthy

Boy Scouts

Boys and Mental Health is what it’s all about today on the International Day of the Boy Child. Research shows us that being outdoors, being of service, learning practical skills with great friends and good role models, helps our boys be happy and healthy.

Interacting with peers from all genders, and internalizing solid morals and values furthermore contribute towards mitigating gender-based violence and the promotion of gender equality.

The Scout programmes are offered to children and youth aged 5 to 30 around the country within communities, local schools, and in partnership with churches and NGOs.

In Gauteng, SCOUTS South Africa and the Department of Social Development have partnered to offer Scouting to young boys. The Scout programme helps them become confident, and skilled leaders, who can build stronger and healthier communities.
