1st Walmer Scout Group Celebrates 100 Years

A century of adventure, friendship, service and learning by doing!

This weekend, the 1st Walmer Scout Group celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 100 years of helping young people grow through Scouting.

Established in 1926 by Elaine “Grey Wolf” Crooks, the Group has seen generations of Cubs, Scouts, Rovers and adult volunteers pass through its doors. While the uniforms, activities and technology may have changed, the heart of Scouting remains the same: developing confidence, leadership, responsibility and a spirit of service through friendship and outdoor adventure.

The centenary celebration will bring together current and former members, families and friends for an afternoon of games, crafts, obstacle courses, pioneering activities and spekboom planting—followed, naturally, by a traditional Scout campfire.

Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to the remarkable story of 1st Walmer over the past century. Here’s to the next 100 years of adventure and learning by doing!

⚜️ Happy centenary, 1st Walmer Scout Group!
